Looking for GTA 5 cheat codes that actually work? This page lists the cheats in the story mode of Grand Theft Auto V, with the keyboard words, the PS4/PS5 and Xbox button combos, and the numbers you can dial on the in-game mobile. Everything was cross-checked against PC Gamer, GamesRadar and the GTA Wiki in October 2026, so you can copy each input with confidence.
A quick note first, because readers of our GTA 5 mobile apk guide ask about this a lot: these cheats work in the official computer and console versions of the game. They don’t work in GTA Online, and Rockstar has not released GTA V for Android or iPhone.
How to Enter GTA 5 Cheat Codes
There are three ways to activate a cheat, and each one gives exactly the same effect:
- Keyboard console: press the ~ key (just below Esc), type the word, for example TURTLE, and press Enter.
- Controller buttons: on PS4, PS5 or Xbox, enter the button sequence quickly during normal gameplay, not from the pause menu. A message in the top corner confirms it worked.
- In-game phone: bring up the mobile (Up on the D-pad, or the Up arrow key), open Contacts, switch to the keypad, dial the number and press call. This works on every platform.
Dialling on the in-game phone is the easiest option when you can’t remember a long button combo, and the numbers are the same on a computer, PlayStation or Xbox. The same codes also work on the older PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.
Before you start:
- Activating any cheat disables achievements and trophies for the rest of that game session.
- Using one during a mission limits that attempt to a bronze medal.
- Some are blocked during missions or in restricted areas.
- Reload your save to clear every active effect.
Health, Armour and Weapons
These are the cheats most players reach for first. In the PlayStation column, directions are written out (Left, Right, Up, Down); in the Xbox column, arrows show the D-pad.

Max Health and Armour (TURTLE)
Instantly fills your health bar and gives you full body armour. Use it in the middle of a gunfight or after a bad crash, and repeat it as often as you like.
Invincibility (PAINKILLER)
Makes you immune to bullets, explosions and falls for five minutes. A timer appears on screen, and you can re-enter it when it runs out.
Weapons and Ammo (TOOLUP)
Fills your weapon wheel with a full set of guns, explosives and melee weapons, plus ammunition. It is the quickest way to prepare for a rampage.
Explosive Ammo (HIGHEX)
Every bullet you fire explodes on impact. It is great fun on cars and helicopters, but be careful at close range because the blasts can hurt you too.
Flaming Bullets (INCENDIARY)
Your bullets set targets on fire. It works with most guns and stacks nicely with the weapons combo above.
Explosive Melee Attacks (HOTHANDS)
Punches and kicks cause an explosion, sending enemies and even cars flying.
Recharge Special Ability (POWERUP)
Refills the special ability bar of the character you control: slow-motion aiming for Michael, slowed driving for Franklin and rage mode for Trevor.
Police and Wanted Level Cheats
The two police cheats are in the first table above:
- LAWYERUP removes one star each time you use it, so enter it repeatedly to clear a five-star chase.
- FUGITIVE does the opposite and adds a star, which is handy if you want a big police battle or need a cop car for a mission.
Neither one works while a mission forces a chase, so finish the scripted part first.

Fast Run (CATCHME)
Your character sprints much faster than normal. It is useful on foot missions and for escaping the police without a car.
Fast Swim (GOTGILLS)
Boosts swimming speed, which helps when you explore the ocean floor or swim between the islands off the coast.
Super Jump (HOPTOIT)
Lets you leap high into the air, high enough to clear cars and fences. Watch your landing, since fall damage still applies unless invincibility is active.
Moon Gravity (FLOATER)
Lowers gravity for everything, so you, cars and loose objects float and bounce in slow arcs. Driving off a ramp with it on is a highlight.
Slow-Motion Aiming (DEADEYE)
Slows time while you aim, similar to Michael’s ability but available to every character. It makes headshots and car chases much easier.
Slow Motion (SLOWMO)
Slows the entire game down. Repeat it to cycle through three slower speeds, and enter it a fourth time to return to normal.
Parachute (SKYDIVE)
Gives you a parachute instantly. Pair it with a helicopter or the top of Mount Chiliad for an easy base jump.
Skyfall (SKYFALL)
Drops you from high in the sky so you can freefall over the map. Open a parachute or hit the ground, so pairing it with the parachute combo is a good idea.
Drunk Mode (LIQUOR)
Makes your character stumble and the camera sway, just like being drunk. It is purely for laughs, and reloading your save clears it.
World and Weather Effects
The last three rows of the movement table change the world around you:
- Slippery cars (SNOWDAY): cars lose grip and slide around corners as if the roads were icy.
- Change weather (MAKEITRAIN): each use moves to the next weather type, from clear skies to rain, thunderstorms and snow.
- Director Mode (JRTALENT): lets you play as different actors and set up scenes for the Rockstar Editor. It has no button combo, so type it or dial it.
Vehicle Spawn Cheats
Each of these spawn cheats drops a vehicle right next to you, so stand in an open area first. Aircraft need plenty of space, so try a road, beach or airfield.

Buzzard Attack Helicopter (BUZZOFF)
An armed helicopter with miniguns and homing missiles. It is the fastest way to cross the map, and it is ideal for hunting enemies from the air.
Comet and Rapid GT (COMET / RAPIDGT)
Two fast sports cars for races and getaways. The Comet handles well on city streets, while the Rapid GT is a solid all-rounder.
Stretch Limo (VINEWOOD)
A long luxury limousine. It is slow and wide, so it is more for fun and photos than for police chases.
PCJ-600 and Sanchez (ROCKET / OFFROAD)
A quick street bike and a dirt bike. Use the Sanchez for the hills and trails of Blaine County, and the PCJ-600 for weaving through traffic.
BMX, Caddy and Trashmaster (BANDIT / HOLEIN1 / TRASHED)
A BMX for stunts, a golf cart for laughs and a heavy garbage truck that pushes other cars out of the way.
Mallard and Duster (BARNSTORM / FLYSPRAY)
A stunt plane and a crop duster. Both are easy to fly and good for practising before flight school.
The Dodo seaplane, Kraken submarine and Duke O’Death muscle car must be unlocked in your game first, and they have no button combo, so type the word or dial the number.
GTA Cheat Quick Reference for PlayStation and Xbox
The symbols on a controller are easy to mix up in the middle of a game, so here are eleven of the cheats people use most with every button written out in full. Circle, Triangle, Square and X are the face buttons on PS4 and PS5; on Xbox the matching buttons are B, Y, X and A, so you can read either column with the same pattern in mind.

Enter each combo at a steady pace without pausing. If you make a mistake halfway through, just start the sequence again from the first button; nothing happens until the full sequence is entered correctly. The same inputs work on PS3, PS4 and PS5, and the Xbox column works on Xbox 360, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
Fun Cheat Combos to Try
Some of the best moments come from stacking two or three effects at once:
- Moon gravity plus super jump: enter FLOATER and HOPTOIT to bounce across rooftops.
- Skyfall plus parachute: use SKYDIVE first, then SKYFALL, for a long freefall with a safe landing.
- Explosive ammo plus slow motion: HIGHEX and SLOWMO turn every shootout into an action movie.
- Slippery cars plus a sports car: SNOWDAY and COMET make every corner a drift.
- Invincibility plus five stars: PAINKILLER and FUGITIVE for a short, chaotic stand against the police.
Remember that invincibility only lasts five minutes, so keep TURTLE ready for when it runs out.
Can You Use GTA 5 Cheats on Mobile?
Not in an official mobile version, because there isn’t one. Apps that promise unlimited money or “unlocked” versions of the game for Android are either fake or unsafe, and many carry malware.
You can still use them on your own copy in two official ways:
- Steam Link: streams the game from your computer to your Android device over Wi-Fi.
- PS Remote Play: streams the game from your PS5 or PS4.
The game runs on your own machine, so every combo and dial number above works exactly as it does on the big screen. A Bluetooth controller makes the button sequences much easier than on-screen touch buttons.
Notes for Each GTA 5 Version
The same list works across every official version, with a few small differences worth knowing:
- Enhanced and Legacy on computer: both editions accept the console words and the dial numbers. A connected controller can also use the Xbox combos.
- PS4 and PS5: the button sequences are identical, and the DualSense works exactly like the DualShock 4.
- Xbox One and Series X|S: the combos are the same on both generations.
- PS3 and Xbox 360: the original 2013 versions use the same inputs, minus the first-person camera and other later additions.
How to Turn Effects Off
Many effects, such as moon gravity, slippery cars and drunk mode, switch off when you enter them again. Health, weapons and the vehicles you spawn can’t be undone, but they don’t affect your progress.
The cleanest way to reset everything is to reload your last save or quick save. Many players save before experimenting and reload afterwards.
Story Mode vs GTA Online
Cheats are a single-player feature only. GTA Online has its own economy and competitive modes, so Rockstar does not allow them there, and the console window and dial numbers simply don’t respond online. Third-party “mod menus” that claim to add them to GTA Online break Rockstar’s rules and can get your account banned, so stick to story mode.

Tips for Story Mode Players
- Save first. Make a manual save at a safehouse before you try anything from this list, so you can always return to a clean game.
- Type each code exactly. In the keyboard console, every code is a single word with no spaces, such as HOLEIN1 for the golf cart.
- Use a gamepad on a computer. If you play with an Xbox controller on a computer, the Xbox button combos in this guide work too.
- Spawn vehicles in the open. The vehicle cheats place a vehicle right next to you, so a wide street, beach or airfield is safer than a narrow alley. Each use spawns a fresh one.
- Combine police and health cheats. LAWYERUP removes your police stars one at a time, and TURTLE keeps you alive while you get away.
- Write down your favourite numbers. Dialling works the same on all platforms, so a short note with the numbers for TURTLE, TOOLUP and LAWYERUP saves time if you switch between console and computer.
- Skip cheats when chasing gold medals. Using a cheat during a mission caps that attempt at a bronze medal, so finish missions first and experiment in free roam.
Cheats are the fun part of GTA 5 once the story is done, but they work best as a sandbox tool rather than a shortcut. Fly the Buzzard up to the Vinewood sign for a great view, then try the moon gravity and skyfall cheats from there. Cheats Not Working? Common Fixes
- You are in GTA Online. They only work in story mode.
- You are on a mission. Many are blocked during missions, so try again in free roam.
- The input was too slow. Button combos must be entered quickly and in order.
- Other effects are active. Certain combinations block new ones, so reload your save and try again.
- The vehicle isn’t unlocked. The Dodo, Kraken and Duke O’Death need to be unlocked first.
Cheats don’t change how much storage the game needs, whether you play on PC, console or stream to a phone. If you’re still choosing a platform, check the GTA 5 size for each version before you download. Buy the game only from official stores such as the Rockstar Games website or Steam.
